What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Install Apprentice position at Ongaro & Sons?
Position Summary
The Apprentice Installer is responsible for performing HVAC Installation up to the Ongaro & Sons codes and quality standards while upholding all city, county, and manufacture codes/requirements. They will be required to install all residential equipment, duct work and IAQ products. Must be comfortable in performing all duties relating to residential and light commercial HVAC installation as described below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be able to communicate effectively with their Journeyman Installer and project coordinator to ensure a smooth installation
- Understanding basic code requirements and reading installation instructions for newly installed HVAC equipment.
- Pass a mechanical aptitude test
- Strong understanding of basic tool use and needs for the HVAC Trade industry
- Be able to communicate effectively with the customer regarding their project overview and progress
- Understand the basic knowledge of how an HVAC system works
- Understanding duct designs and layout: Able to perform air balancing with a flow hood.
- Diagnosing problems, testing and making adjustments to HVAC systems.
- Understanding of low voltage electrical and basic diagnostic skills when issues arise.
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and share ideas for continual improvement with team leads
- Complying with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas
- Performing other work-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma/GED
- At least 1 years’ experience in the HVAC Installation field or Trade school is required.
- EPA certification is required (If not acquired we will assist in getting the EPA certification).
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to use an iPad effectively, we are a paperless company, and everything is done on an iPad.
- Able to pass a background check
- Able to pass a physical exam
- Clean driving record.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
