- Works with and negotiates with carriers, logistics carriers providers, suppliers and customers
- Coordinates communication and activity with Purchasing, Customer Service, Warehouse and other departments to optimize performance in scheduling and delivery
- Communicates, plans, and executes activities of warehouses/dock schedules, carriers/drivers to maximize productivity and attain scheduled pickup and delivery dates
- Reviews shipment materials before distributions
- Monitors shipment costs and productivity processes
- Reviews shipping documents to ensure accuracy
- Plans and assigns loads for incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods
- Makes special arrangements if necessary
- Sources carriers to haul shipments pursuant to requirements
- Negotiates with carriers to secure proper payout based on shipment requirements
- Works with team members and employees to make sure all requirements are understood prior to shipments being arranged
- Makes decision based on best course of action and circumstances on a shipment-by-shipment basis, maintaining service standards, profitability and fairness to customers and vendors
- Maintains a constant sense of urgency in moving freight without sacrificing accuracy for speed
- Plans and tracks loads, shipment activities, and identifies opportunities for improved network design
Work Experience
- At least 5 years of proven experience in a Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement or Operations Role
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
- Highly skilled at building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
- Results oriented with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Commercially and financially aware.
- Key attention to detail and accuracy.
