Description:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervising Engineer to lead a team of Controls Engineers and Designers, providing on-site support for a nuclear power plant in the Detroit/Chicago/Toledo region. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex electrical and instrumentation & control (I&C) systems in a nuclear environment.
Key Responsibilities:
You will oversee the preparation and approval of Engineering Change Packages, including equipment specifications, data sheets, calculations, and design documents. Your work will involve designing and configuring systems such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), UPS/DC systems, and digital instrumentation. You will also perform electrical studies, including short circuit, voltage drop, coordination, and arc flash analyses using OTI-ETAP software.
In addition to technical tasks, you will supervise engineers and designers, review proposals, monitor project budgets and schedules, and provide technical leadership. You will collaborate with clients, contractors, vendors, and cross-disciplinary teams to ensure project success.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- At least 8 years of experience designing electrical and I&C systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities, with 5 years specifically in nuclear plants in North America.
- Familiarity with nuclear design processes, IEEE, EPRI, ISA, and IAEA standards, and NRC regulatory guides.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams).
- A Professional Engineering (PE) license in any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant, including Fitness for Duty requirements.
