What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Onondaga County Health Department?
The Onondaga County Health Department has a full time opening for a Medical Assistant.
The Medical Assistant will be working with the Lead Free Kids Division within Community Health of the Onondaga County Health Department. Responsibilities of the Medical Assistant will include participation in medical records management and clinical support such as:
- scheduling patient appointments
- assists with patients completing paperwork
- scans medical documentation into appropriate charts
- print and mails patient letters
- entering data into one or more electronic medical records
- retrieves patient information from one or more physical or electronic medical records.
- obtaining basic medical information from patients
- collecting samples/blood draws

Applicants must possess two years of experience in clinical settings, which must include medical records management, and a Certificate in Medical Assisting, Medical Billing, Phlebotomy or an Associate’s Degree in Health Science, Health Information Technology, Accounting/billing or closely related field. A valid driver's license is also required.
Salary: $42,522 per year
