Overview

As a vital member of our IT Infrastructure team, the Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of our corporate networks. This role requires independent action, collaborative effort, and a strong commitment to ensuring the availability and performance of our network infrastructure. Reporting to the Assistant Infrastructure Manager, the Senior Network Engineer will also contribute to the deployment of new network technologies and equipment while ensuring adherence to established standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of system configurations for complex networking environments, ensuring strict compliance with established standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate strategically with business units to determine advanced hardware requirements and oversee the coordination of installation efforts.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level team members in the spirit of coaching and collaboration, providing tactical direction as necessary to support Infrastructure Management.
  • Proactively monitor network performance, identify and resolve complex issues, and strategically plan and schedule upgrades to ensure optimal network availability and performance.
  • Work in close partnership with architects to enhance network design and configuration for superior performance and efficiency.
  • Perform advanced network infrastructure duties across LAN / WAN, ensuring secure system access and continuously monitoring and analyzing network traffic for potential issues.
  • Develop, enforce, and refine network security policies and access controls to safeguard system integrity and data confidentiality.
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and emerging technologies through continuous learning and active participation in professional organizations.
  • Provide expert-level support for Credit Union network equipment, delivering technical assistance and troubleshooting complex issues as needed.
  • Report on network operational status, prioritize critical tasks, and lead and manage high-impact projects, ensuring successful completion and alignment with organizational goals.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies & Qualifications

  • Expert proficiency in TCP / IP, OSI Model, Firewalls, and a comprehensive understanding of advanced network protocols such as BGP, MP-BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, DCI, etc..
  • Extensive experience with network infrastructure development and deployment within Datacenter, Remote Office / Location, and Cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in secure and resilient network design and deployment, including advanced routing and switching, network segmentation, carrier divergence, fault tolerance.
  • In-depth understanding of packet and traffic analysis techniques for optimizing network performance.
  • Preferred certification in recognized senior-level network industry certifications such as CCNP, JNCIE, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience with networking equipment (particularly Arista and Meraki), and VOIP solutions (particularly Cisco Unified Call Manager and Jabber).
  • Highly desired experience with Arista CloudVision, Python scripting, API connectivity, Linux, Spine / Leaf data center architecture, and SDWAN technologies.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-impact projects concurrently and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High school diploma or GED required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in senior-level network engineering roles.
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry is highly desirable.
  • Physically capable of occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license required.
