onsemi is looking to add an energetic, hard-working, strategic-minded Public Relations Specialist to our global public relations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent college graduate eager to break into the technology and semiconductor industry, and gain hands-on experience in global media relations, executive thought leadership, and strategic communications.
This role will work directly with the Director and Head of Global Public Relations to support and implement earned media strategies and executive thought leadership campaigns that elevate the brand and reputation of the company.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying and executing on new strategies and opportunities that align with the campaigns as well as tracking the overall success and effectiveness of the programs. Additionally, this candidate will play a key role in the development of materials and content needed to support story creation, and media outreach and engagement. This position will play an integral role in shaping the company’s public narrative while learning from experienced communications professionals in a fast-paced and innovative industry.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related discipline
- Prior internship or coursework in PR, communications, or media relations is preferred but not required
- Passion and interest in semiconductors and/or the broader tech industry
- A curious, creative mind that is willing to take informed risks and seeks innovative ways to connect our stories with our varied audiences
- Strong written and verbal communications skills, with extreme focus on detail, who is confident, persuasive, and comfortable interacting with a wide range of people and personalities
- A self-starter with excellent problem-solving abilities, team player who can collaborate across the team to drive positive outcomes. Able to adjust quickly to changing requirements and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Able to manage multiple projects at a given time effectively to meet or beat deadlines. Analyze results and provide strategic recommendations.
- Familiarity with media databases, press monitoring tools, and analytics platforms is a plus
- Assist in the development of ambitious proactive media engagement strategies in support of elevating onsemi’s brand and thought leadership campaigns
- Seek and evaluate opportunities for executive thought leadership platforms and drive content development for supporting materials including briefing materials, byline articles, award applications, speaker nominations, and pitches and talking points
- Write and/or review copy for a variety of mediums such as (but not limited to) media pitches, program key messages, press releases, byline articles, FAQs, influencer content, briefing docs, and spokesperson notes
- Provide project oversight to conceptualize, write, edit, and deliver video content, photography, infographics, and social media in close coordination with other members of the marketing team
- Maintain editorial calendar for cross-company news to drive alignment across internal teams, identify any potential news management conflicts, and provide recommendations
- Maintain press list and identify opportunities to expand upon media targets; develop media pitches and strategies to engage journalists; build relationships with tier one press and influencers
- Closely follow news and trends to quickly identify and act on media opportunities to promote onsemi’s story
- Monitor company and competitor media coverage, inform internal stakeholders of critical news items, and develop weekly coverage newsletter
- Track and measure all media relations programs, generating ongoing coverage reports that analyze the success of tactics, tracked to KPIs, and provide recommended solutions for improvement
- Identify and execute on opportunities for onsemi to continue to modernize its public relations efforts, including updating the newsroom and blog program
- Manage and respond to incoming media and interview requests
