The Director of Business Development is a proven sales professional whose energy, focus and determination are matched by well-developed solution selling skills and experience. The position is responsible for the development and execution of value added, customer-centric energy asset investment opportunities for the Company. The Director of Business Development provides customers with value added asset solutions utilizing a broad spectrum of technologies ranging from solar, storage, cogeneration, electrical infrastructure, fuel cells, or even traditional generation technologies utilizing fossil fuels. Office locations Columbus, OH and Chicago, IL, other locations considered for the ideal candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Solicit and originate new energy projects for OnSite Partners with industrial, municipal, institutional, and large commercial customers, incorporating new business segments, identified customer verticals and new technologies. Assist customers by delivering commercial insight and valuable solutions to help them reach their energy goals.
- Manage and lead the strategy and origination approach for one or more identified verticals demonstrating deep customer and industry understanding allowing for accelerated growth.
- Communicate/Articulate, to a customers’ consensus group, the value proposition of DG solutions, including savings/benefits analysis vs. do nothing/status quo case as well as risks for both.
- Manage customer opportunities from inception to contract execution, including the leading role in driving and coordinating customer negotiations. Work with and manage customers to build consensus on the customer side to keep the opportunity moving towards approval at all levels of the customer organization.
- Manage the development and diligence process for each opportunity for the resolution of site-specific due diligence and non-ministerial permitting items that arise impacting the Project viability or ability to be financed.
- Evaluate customer opportunities to appropriately prioritize them internally.
- Work with internal resources to identify DG solutions that meet customer’s energy goals, and to creatively structure those solutions to meet customer financial objectives. Coordinate and communicate customer solutions within the company for proper review, prioritization, scoping, pricing, and risk management.
- Understand and communicate the competitive landscape to the leadership. This includes competing products and companies, incentive opportunities, potentially new energy asset technologies, and business opportunities.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree. Engineering, Finance or similar. MBA preferred
Experience: 5 years project, energy, or complex solution sales. Distributed generation operating, engineering, financing, or development experience preferred.
Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
