We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Radiologic Technologist to join our team as a Mammography Technologist in Training. This position is designed for individuals who hold an active ARRT (Radiography) certification and wish to gain the specialized skills and experience required to obtain Mammography certification. The goal is to complete the training program within 7 weeks, with eventual placement at one of our closest Onsite Women's Health partnership locations.
Under the guidance of experienced Mammography Technologists and Radiologists, you will receive intensive hands-on training in performing mammographic procedures in a clinical setting, preparing you to meet the requirements for Mammography certification.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and assist with mammographic imaging procedures on patients, ensuring high-quality images while maintaining patient comfort and safety
- Work closely with Mammography Technologists, Radiologists, Area Managers, and Mammography in Training Program Director to learn proper positioning, equipment usage, and imaging protocols
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of mammography positioning and safety standards through hands-on training.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance skills in mammography.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards related to mammography, including those set by the FDA and the American College of Radiology (ACR).
- Ensure proper documentation for all mammographic exams, including patient histories and imaging results.
- Review patient records and ensure that mammography exams are appropriate based on clinical indication.
- Assist with patient positioning, explaining procedures, and addressing patient concerns to ensure a positive experience.
- Practice effective radiation safety techniques and maintain the highest level of professionalism.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care and to support patient results timely.
- Complete all required training and educational components required for Mammography certification, including hands-on clinical experience, within an 8-week timeframe.
- Explains procedures to the patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Instruct patient on proper breathing technique before exposure.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating all required equipment.
- Evaluate digital and tomographic images for diagnostic quality and take corrective action as necessary.
- Ensures equipment is in proper working order at all times.
- Performs all required QC testing to comply with manufacturer, MQSA, ACR, and State requirements/regulations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Processes routine paperwork and all required data entry.
- Participates in professional development activities.
- Prepares all required reports and data under MQSA and State requirements.
Qualifications:
- ARRT required
- Minimum of 1 year of practical experience
- Completed 40-hour initial training course in Mammography
- Must maintain CEU's as required by State and or National accreditation bodies
- Willingness to learn and accept constructive criticism
- Possess critical thinking skills and displays professional judgment
