Job Description
Performs semiskilled work maintaining parks and play areas, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Park Operations Supervisor.
This position mostly works at Onslow County Beach access sites.
This is a part time temporary / seasonal position (April through September) working 20 to 40 hours per week; not eligible for benefits.

Position Responsibilities
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and clean environment in park facilities, buildings, and grounds.
- Ensures accessibility, safety, and security of park facilities and grounds.
- Assists maintenance personnel with repair and maintenance of park equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Verifies park facility reservations.
- Prepares ball fields for use.
- Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Qualifications
Some knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in general maintenance work; some knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools and techniques of the standard building trades; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of the class; some knowledge of the methods used in the preparation of baseball and softball fields; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Education, Experience, and Special Requirements
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in grounds maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirement :
Valid Drivers License.

Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the retirement system and must contribute 6% of their gross salary each pay period. Once eligibility requirements are met, employees will be able to receive monthly payments for life based on their salary, age, and years of service credit.
NC401k
The County contributes 1% of employees' gross salary into the 401(k) account regardless of the employee's deferral amount. In addition, the County matches employee deferrals up to an additional 4%.
Vacation Leave
Regular full-time employees earn 13.5 days of vacation leave per year. With each 5-year increment of employment, vacation accrual increases.
Sick Leave
Regular full-time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year.
Paid Holidays
County employees receive paid holidays annually. The Board of County Commissioners may adjust the holiday schedule as deemed necessary.
