POSITION TITLE:	Custodial Extended Employment (Summer 2025 Reading Camps)
REPORTS TO:	Principal

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
• Some skill in the use of small equipment used in routine cleaning
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions
• Ability to follow a rigid time schedule
• Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (40-50 pounds), 25 pounds routinely and 100 pounds occasionally and be able to stand, walk, run, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb ladders, for extended periods of time
• Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely and to carry furniture (such as tables, chairs, supplies and materials)
• Ability to work around harsh chemicals
• Must be able to travel to a variety of school sites

 
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• Successful work experience
• High school diploma or equivalence
• Current Onslow County Schools 10 month employee

 
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: July 07, 2025 – July 25, 2025
 
SALARY:  Hourly rate $17.00 per hour
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Stripping and Waxing floors
2. Pressure washing (outside in the elements)
3. Scrubs, dusts, sweeps, mops, vacuums, hallways and closets.
4. Dusts and arranges furniture.
5. Washes windows, woodwork, walls and other surfaces.
6. Scrubs and cleans rest room fixtures.
7. Replenishes tissue, towels, and soap in rest rooms, kitchens and classroom facilities.
8. Empties wastebaskets and other trash receptacles.
9. Locks and unlocks doors.
10. Sorts and stores material for recycling program.
11. Reports to supervisor any damages or needed repairs.
12. Picks up paper and other trash in school building or on school grounds.
13. Turns heating and air conditioning equipment on and off.
14. Adheres to mandated uniform procedures.
15. Performs other duties as specified by the Principal, Maintenance Director, or designee.
