KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong instructional background with experience in curriculum development and implementation.
- Knowledge of legal, financial, and organizational requirements related to school administration.
- Proficiency in educational technology with the ability to lead staff and students in its integration.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to engage with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Ability to support teachers in lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and student engagement strategies.
- Knowledge of employee evaluation standards, coaching techniques, and professional development practices.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes equity and respect.
- Experience in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and student behavior management.
- Ability to analyze data to support instructional improvements and student achievement.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Valid North Carolina Principal’s License required.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of successful experience in a public education setting, preferably in leadership roles.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
SALARY: Based on the State Salary Schedule for Assistant Principals.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in evaluating the school's instructional program and provide constructive feedback to improve teaching and learning.
- Implement and enforce clear, consistent disciplinary procedures while promoting positive student behavior and conflict resolution.
- Supervise and manage auxiliary services, leveraging community resources to enhance school programs.
- Assist in the development, coordination, and execution of school schedules and co-curricular activities.
- Foster open, transparent communication among staff, students, parents, and the broader community.
- Promote and uphold the dignity, worth, and respect of all students and staff members.
- Oversee records, reports, and inventory management for school supplies, textbooks, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Support the principal in the general administration of the school and assume leadership in their absence.
- Coordinate school bus transportation, ensuring efficiency and student safety.
- Lead the implementation of the school’s assessment and accountability program.
- Maintain a safe and secure school environment for students, staff, and visitors, implementing safety protocols as necessary.
- Serve as the school district representative in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and other student support processes.
- Provide supervision and organization at all school events, including after-school activities and extracurricular programs.
- Assist in recruiting, mentoring, and developing new teachers and staff members.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to support student achievement and school improvement.
- Strengthen parent and community engagement through effective outreach and collaboration.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Physical stamina and mobility, including standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
- Capability to stand for more than six hours and effectively monitor a large campus.
- Ability to visually, auditorily, and physically supervise student performance and behavior.
- Strength to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Ability to safely restrain students when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
- Capacity to facilitate student evacuation during emergency situations and drills.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including moving swiftly across campus when needed.
- Emotional and mental resilience to handle stressful situations, including student crises, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for school events, meetings, and emergencies.
- Must be able to travel to various school sites as required.
