KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Comprehensive knowledge of North Carolina curriculum, instructional research, best practices, school improvement strategies, and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of legal and financial considerations related to North Carolina public schools.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in utilizing the North Carolina teacher evaluation system.
- Ability to lead and implement data-driven decision-making practices to improve student outcomes.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to address school-wide challenges effectively.
- Experience in fostering partnerships with community organizations, local businesses, and higher education institutions to enhance educational opportunities.
- Proficiency in utilizing educational technology to enhance learning and operational efficiency.
- Ability to develop and implement professional development programs that enhance teacher effectiveness.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Completion of a Master of School Administration degree.
- North Carolina Principal Licensure.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience as a school administrator.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfill all duties as prescribed by North Carolina Public Schools statutes, the Superintendent, and the local Board of Education.
- Serve as the instructional leader, fostering academic excellence and continuous improvement.
- Maintain effective communication with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Ensure and sustain a high-quality educational environment.
- Oversee all aspects of school operations, including facility management, budgeting, instructional programs, and student services.
- Evaluate and support the professional growth of school staff.
- Implement and uphold all policies of the Onslow County Schools Board of Education.
- Drive the realization of the school's vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Cultivate a positive school culture and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, and mentoring of new staff members.
- Set and maintain high expectations for students, staff, and the school community.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district laws, policies, and mandates.
- Utilize data analysis to monitor student progress and develop interventions that support student achievement.
- Foster student engagement by promoting extracurricular activities and leadership development opportunities.
- Ensure a safe and secure learning environment by implementing and maintaining school safety protocols.
- Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers to create a supportive school community.
- Collaborate with district leadership to align school goals with district-wide strategic objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Physical stamina and mobility, including but not limited to standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting, and walking for extended periods.
- Capability to stand for more than six hours.
- Ability to effectively monitor a large campus environment.
- Capacity to visually, auditorily, and physically supervise student performance and behavior.
- Ability to safely restrain students if necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
- Strength to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
- Tolerance for a busy and occasionally loud work environment.
- Ability to travel to various school district and community locations as required.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including moving swiftly across campus when needed.
- Emotional and mental resilience to handle stressful situations, including student crises, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends for school events, meetings, and emergencies.
