What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Social Services Assistant position at Onslow County?
Performs skilled human support work supporting and transporting clients in the Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, and Youth Services divisions of the Department of Social Services, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Social Work Supervisor and Social Work Program Manager.
There are currently two positions open. One with Adult Protective Services and one with Child Protective Services.

- Works with the elderly, disabled and/or families with dependent children in local departments of Social Services to provide training in household management, personal care, and community living skills.
- Transports clients for essential medical, social, and/or educational services.
- Demonstrates, accompanies, and/or works along side clients to show them how to manage money, select and prepare nutritious and inexpensive meals, care for the family and/or family's personal health and cleanliness.
- Discusses basic child rearing practices and discipline techniques.
- Transports clients to medical, social, and educational resources to assure they receive services.
- Assists clients occasionally in locating housing or job placements; help clients obtain furnishings, transportation, or day care as needed.
- Demonstrates for or train clients in housekeeping, budgeting, food selection and preparation, sewing, and personal health/cleanliness.
- Supervises parent-child visitations.
- Documents services provided and submits required reports to supervisors.
- Conducts foster care home visits, occasionally, if applicable.
- Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
- Performs related tasks as required.
A drivers license is required for this position.
Salary : $16 - $21
