What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Maintenance Technician position at Onslow County?
Performs semiskilled work in the maintenance and landscape of the County's buildings, facilities, and grounds, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

- Maintains and landscapes facilities; performing landscaping and grounds maintenance work as assigned.
- Prepares grounds and fields for activities.
- Performs plumbing, masonry, painting, carpentry and minor electrical work.
- Performs custodial work; collects trash and garbage and disposes of same.
- Operates trucks, tractors and mowers in grounds maintenance work.
- Applies pesticides and herbicides to industry standards.
- Performs snow removal, leaf and limb removal in off season.
- Performs safety inspections and repairs on equipment, vehicles, parking lots, and roads.
- Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
- Performs related tasks as required.
General knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in turf grass, horticulture and maintenance work; general knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools and techniques of the standard building trades; some knowledge of safety precautions applicable to job duties; ability to understand and follow instructions in both oral and written form; ability to operate simple machinery and equipment; good physical condition; general landscaping knowledge, ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Ability to maintain effective relationships with other employees & general public.
- High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in landscape maintenance work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Pesticide Applicator's license within two years of hire.
- Valid commercial driver's license in the State of North Carolina, or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget and market considerations.
