Ontario ARC of Canandaigua, NY, a Human Services Agency, is seeking to hire entry-level full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for our Community Habilitation Program to provide individuals with developmental disabilities habilitation support services in obtaining their life goals. The role of this position is to teach individuals with developmental disabilities the skills to promote growth and independence in their home and in the community. Staff will provide guidance in the area of personal hygiene tasks, self-care tasks, household chores, social and emotional health.
All COVID-19 safety requirements are strictly adhered to at Ontario ARC and all PPE are provided for all employees. DSP-Community Habilitation Responsibilities:
- Provides habilitation support services to individuals with developmental disabilities, generally on a small group or one-to-one basis in a variety of community settings.
- Provides training opportunities designed to enhance each person's self-sufficiency in the areas of personal independence, community integration and productivity.
- Promotes agency mission, vision and values.

DSP-Community Habilitation Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- HS diploma or an equivalent amount of education/experience required.
- One year of experience preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver's license
- Own a reliable vehicle.
- Successful completion of mandatory training requirements within first three (3) months of hire. Including, but not limited to certification in Behavior Management (SCIP-R), Certification to drive agency vehicles/vans, Lifting and other physical assistance techniques, CPR and First Aid, Medication Administration certification and Agency Driver Certification.
