What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Driver Trainer position at Ontario Bus Inc?
The work involves training new school bus drivers as necessary and observing on a regular basis licensed bus drivers according to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicle regulations to certify drivers each year to drive a school bus.
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Trains perspective drivers in preparation for taking and passing the New York State Motor Vehicle Road test
Thorough knowledge of pertinent sections of Vehicle and Traffic Law.
Good knowledge of how to operate buses.
Good knowledge of safety features of buses.
Ability to operate a bus under difficult driving and road conditions.
Ability to understand and interpret written materials.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Dependability.
Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and records.
Oversee driver trainers in ensuring proper training and protocols are being followed according to NYS DMV regulations in a timely fashion.
Ability to be proactive and maintain a positive attitude in a teamwork environment.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A. Candidates must possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License to drive a bus and have three years of experience transporting students to and from school; and
B. Candidates must possess an Article 19-A Certified Examiner certificate and a School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate.
C. Proven experience in training drivers to pass the CDL-B School Bus Road Test.
