What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Route Planner position at Ontario Bus Inc?
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Plan and determine all student transportation routes using transportation software programs and taking into consideration such factors as bus capacity, student load size, and available personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and recommend changes in bus routes and schedules to obtain maximum utilization of equipment and personnel.
- Prepare maps and discuss bus/van routing with applicable personnel.
- Develop and schedule student pick-up assignments.
- Maintain all computerized routing and student transportation records.
- Complete bus runs as needed
- Provide back-up support to other transportation positions.
- Adhere to policies and procedures found in the Ontario Bus Inc. Employee Handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor while working with a diverse and challenging student population.
- Communication in a professional manner with students, parents and coworkers
- Flexibility in daily job assignments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) a must
- Knowledge using TRAVERSA routing program is a plus but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
