Ontic is a leading global aerospace OEM trusted by the world’s aviation leaders. Specializing in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence, Ontic has over 1,500 customers in the commercial, civil and defense aerospace markets. With over 1,300 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.
Our team is looking for a Business Unit Director to join them. You will report to the Commercial Director and will have an onsite work structure in Chatsworth, CA.
To be considered for the Business Unit Director opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
- Bachelors degree in business, marketing or engineering required
- 4 years of aerospace industry experience
- 4 years of experience working directly with customers, preferably as a program manager, project engineer, or in a sales role
- Experience working with and managing projects, assigning roles/responsibilities and monitoring the progress through completion
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, coordinate, and mobilize various groups including peers and business partners
- Brings a strong entrepreneurial mindset to the role, with a solid focus on growing the business in a profitable manner
- Medium and long-term growth strategy planning (revenue & profitability)
- Ability to work with numbers using spreadsheets to calculate and analyze product sales trends, profitability, inventory metrics, quotation metrics, and SIOP analysis
- Some travel required (10-20%)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of basic ERP functionality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
As a Business Unit Director you will:
- Be responsible for execution of commercial plan and customer interface for all assigned products
- Plan, manage and execute to P&L budget for entire business, including four Business Units
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsiveness, lead time, on time delivery and service
- Extend the usable life of the product line and identify ancillary applications
- Play an active role in business development by partnering with the sales and marketing teams to build a healthy customer backlog
- Maximize profitability, managing both price and costs
- Accelerate the timing and size of sales transactions
- Provide team with rolling forecasts to allow for effective management of procurement, planning and production activities
- Monitor KPIs to ensure product line(s) are supported and performing
- Provide input in pricing decisions
- Responsible for team development and performance management
- Represent company at trade shows, on sales calls, and all other customer and supplier facing situations
- Other duties as assigned

Salary Range:
- $170,000- $190,000/year, based on experience
