To be considered for the HSE Specialist opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, physical science, environmental studies, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in EHS, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA, Environmental, and DOT laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and regulations.
- Possess or the ability to obtain HAZWOPER and First Aid / CPR / AED certifications.
- Carry a valid driver’s license.
- Demonstrated experience operating a powered industrial vehicle.
- Possess strong ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employees and managers at all levels of the organization while maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste collection for entire site including Production, and other areas and transfer to Hazardous Waste Storage area or appropriate areas as designated.
- Sort, pack, and label hazardous and universal waste. Assist with waste shipments on a periodic basis.
- Maintain proper labeling, container management, and adequate housekeeping in the hazardous waste storage and satellite areas by conducting weekly inspections and correcting deficiencies.
- Conduct environmental monitoring/sampling programs.
- Conduct industrial hygiene sampling programs.
- Maintain EHS records and permits. Prepare required reports to regulatory agencies as required by agency due dates.
- Inspect and assist in restocking the following: First Aid Cabinets, AED, Emergency Eye Wash Stations, Safety Showers.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
- Serve as a member of hazardous materials response team. Respond to clean up of spills.
- Comply with and enforce all company HSE policies and procedures to include the provisions of the HSE Management System.
- Maintain First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification and act as a first responder at the site.
- Demonstrate proficient planning, organizational, and change management skills
- Lead incident investigations both independently and in a team environment.
- Conduct new employee occupational health, safety, and environmental orientation.
- Participate in Chair Safety Committee meetings.
