Benefits Analyst

Summary:

The Benefits Analyst attracts and retains employees by researching and explaining benefit programs; Analyzes and provides recommendations to employer benefit practices by benchmarking best practice, researching industry and employment trends, tracking legislation and estimating impact; Utilizes survey data to recommends benefit programs, policies, procedures, in order to be responsive to the organization's goals and competitive practices; Monitors benefits program for consistent administration in compliance with company policies and government regulations; Coordinates and process hospital-wide benefit program for all employees from date of hire to termination consisting of enrollments, status changes, insurance claims, monthly billings, leaves of absence, education reimbursement programs, and COBRA; Assists employees with benefit and leave of absence questions and issues.

Responsibilities:

Analyzes and provides recommendations to employer benefit practices by benchmarking best practices; researching industry and employment trends; tracking legislation and estimating impact; Utilizes survey data to recommends benefit programs, policies, procedures, in order to be responsive to the organization's goals and competitive practices; Monitors and ensures thorough analysis, audits, and reports that benefit programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations; Researches, designs, prepares, and distributes both routine and special reports. Manage annual benefit statement project and coordinate benefit enrollments.

Communicates and explains benefit information during individual meetings, employee orientation, and open enrollment; Explain and process beneficiary changes, name changes, death claims, retirement, new hire enrollments, terminations, COBRA, status changes, and other employee/retiree related benefit changes and questions; Data entry of deductions for benefits such as the cost of insurance for medical, auto, life and annuities.

Ensures prompt payment and auditing for accuracy with Accounts Payable for all benefit programs; Supports the tuition assistance, scholarship, and sponsorship programs including processing claims for benefits, maintenance of records and databases, and reconciling accounts; Assists in projects involving both compensation and benefits.

Provides oversight for the administration and tracking of employee leaves of absence as it relates to the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), American's with Disabilities Act (ADAAA), Worker's Compensation (WC), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and all Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidelines; Provides education and consultation to directors and employees regarding Leaves of Absence, FMLA, and ADAAA; Works collaboratively with Human Resources Business Partners and Employee Health regarding employees who are requesting, currently on, or returning from a Leave of Absence.

Handles clerical and communication aspects of the Leave of Absence process; Ensures leave processes are in place and notices sent within established timeframes; Remains current with changing federal, state and regional regulations and provide recommendations for change as appropriate.
