Job Summary
The primary purpose of the Petroleum Transport Driver (PTD) is to load, unload and deliver petroleum products to company owned sites / customers in a safe, efficient and professional manner. The PTD will be responsible for driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads to shipping papers and maintaining record of duty status according to state and federal regulations. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with company policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives company truck to / from destinations to transport fuel and complies with the proper methods of loading and unloading.
- Remains by the vehicle during all active loading and unloading.
- Uses hazard lamps and safety cones, turns vehicle engine off and no idling during all active loading and unloading.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintains vehicle in DOT compliant specifications and performs and / or schedules to perform all routine and preventive maintenance on vehicle.
- Understands and complies with all applicable federal, state, local and company rules and regulations that are in accordance with the accepted principals of the safe operation of a hazardous cargo tank motor vehicle.
- Drives and delivers products during various types of weather, which may cause surfaces to be wet, slippery and / or involve temperature extremes.
- Completes driver daily logs and all necessary delivery tickets, trip reports, fuel reports, damage reports and all paperwork required by company as instructed.
- Reports to dispatcher at time specified and maintains contact with dispatch office.
- Complies with all company safety and performance standards.
- Reports all accidents immediately involving driver and / or company equipment regardless of the damage and fault.
- Develops and maintains a professional and respectful relationship with company, colleagues and coworkers.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
