Overview:
The Product Development Specialist, Apparel / Garments manages the product lifecycle from design hand-off to production, ensuring timelines are met and product quality aligns with brand standards. This role requires strong project management skills and close collaboration with design, merchandising, production, and sales teams.
Type: Direct hire, full time
Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days per week in office
Pay: $80,000 - $90,000 salary
Product Development Specialist, Apparel / Garments Duties:
- Oversee and manage apparel / garment product development timelines to meet key milestones.
- Track design submits and garment samples from initial development to top of production.
- Coordinate with internal teams and overseas vendors to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to keep development on schedule.
- Collaborate with tech design and apparel designers to ensure product meets intended design, fit, and function.
- Participate in garment fit sessions and product line reviews, providing feedback to maintain brand standards.
- Assist sales teams by ensuring samples are accurate and delivered on time for go-to-market meetings.
- Communicate vendor requirements for labeling, ticketing, and packaging.
- Create and manage product trackers to monitor progress and ensure data integrity.
- Review tech packs and design submits with strong attention to detail.
Product Development Specialist, Apparel / Garments Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in apparel product development, preferably in childrenswear.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple developments and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience working with overseas vendors and managing the product lifecycle.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is a plus, but not a deal breaker.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
