Our client is seeking a dedicated Design Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative, digital learning solutions within the Higher Education sector. This is a fully-remote role. 3 month contract on a W2.
As a Design Systems Engineer, you will bridge the gap between design and development, standardizing and implementing a scalable design system. Your work will ensure that our client's digital products deliver consistent, intuitive, accessible, and visually appealing user experiences.
Key Responsibilities :
Collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and implementation of the design system
Create and maintain reusable UI components, ensuring they adhere to accessibility standards like WCAG
Implement and manage tools like Storybook to streamline design system workflows
Write and maintain unit and integration tests for UI components to ensure quality and functionality
Proactively solve problems, balancing business goals with user needs while addressing design system challenges
Stay up to date on industry trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve the design system
Work within Agile methodologies to deliver iterative and impactful updates to the design system
Qualifications :
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in software development or design system engineering
3 years of front-end development experience, including creating or maintaining design systems
Proficiency in front-end development languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks, particularly Angular; familiarity with React is a plus
Familiarity with version control systems like Git for managing design system updates
Experience with tools such as Storybook and Figma
A strong understanding of accessibility standards like WCAG and how to build compliant components
Strong communication and collaboration skills, allowing effective interaction with designers, developers, and stakeholders
Familiarity with Agile methodologies
A passion for learning and staying updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices in design systems and front-end development
