Network Engineer is a mid-level position responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of an organization's networking infrastructure. This role typically requires technical expertise, and it often involves individual responsibility. Key responsibilities of a Network Engineer include:
Must have
Palo Alto virtual – Panorama
Cisco Meraki
Internal stakeholders: Internal IT Infra/Service desk / on-site team
External: vendor coordination as needed
Travel: 10% - 20% for our other sites as needed
Languages – English, Kannada, Hindi
Network Design
Designing and planning the organization's network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, and cloud networks.
Evaluating and selecting SaaS based networking (routers, switches, PA/Cisco firewalls, etc.) based on technical requirements.
Ensuring the network architecture is scalable, reliable, and secure.
Adhering to project timelines for all network-related projects.
Network Implementation and Configuration
Responsible for deployment of new network hardware and software.
Configuring cisco Meraki routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices like AP’s, Cameras and ensuring the documentation is up to date.
Ensuring smooth integration of new technologies with the existing infrastructure.
Troubleshooting and Support
Resolving network issues that arise during regular operations.
Ensuring minimal network downtime and providing efficient solutions for technical problems.
Providing on-call support for network-related issues.
Network Security
Ensuring that network infrastructure is secure from potential threats.
Implementing and maintaining Virtual PA/Meraki firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security measures.
Ensuring updates are done as per advisory from the OEM, and/or fortnightly/monthly as needed. Verifying the report regularly and giving heads up to the CISO team/IT manager, on potential vulnerability and having work around in consultation with OEM.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization
Monitoring network performance using specialized tools to ensure optimal operation.
Identifying bottlenecks and implementing strategies to enhance network performance.
Managing bandwidth, latency, and network traffic optimization.
Collaboration with Other Departments
Working with IT teams, system administrators, security teams, and management to ensure network integration with other systems.
Coordinating with vendors and service providers for hardware, software, or service needs.
Documentation and Reporting
Documenting network configurations, changes, and updates.
Generating reports on network performance, usage, and security for review and improvements.
Staying Updated with Emerging Technologies
Continuously researching new networking technologies (e.g., SDN, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, etc.) to stay ahead of industry trends.
Recommending and implementing innovative solutions to improve network efficiency and security.
