Coffee Roasting Assistant - Onyx Coffee Lab

Overview

We’re looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Roaster Assistant to support our coffee roasting operations. This role is critical in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of green coffee from arrival to roasting. You'll work closely with our roasting team to organize green coffee inventory, weigh and prepare batches, and help maintain a clean, safe, and productive environment. Full time day (M-F 7:30am to 3:30pm). We are flexible should you have conflicts but they will need to be communicated the week before. Overtime will be available only when approved by manager. Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and manage green coffee inventory, including tracking movements and updating logs
• Weigh and prepare batches of green coffee according to production schedules
• Assist roasters by staging green coffee and maintaining supply flow during roasting
• Lift and move coffee bags weighing up to 50 lbs
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production and storage areas
• Communicate clearly and promptly with roasting and production team
• Work with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong sense of urgency
• Assist in basic equipment cleaning and upkeep as needed

Qualifications:

• Ability to consistently lift and move up to 50 lbs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under time pressure

Interest in coffee and willingness to learn more about roasting is a bonus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
