Currently, we are seeking a Data Privacy Specialist to be part of the Privacy team. This person will work with the Data Privacy Lead to ensure privacy requirements are met when developing new business opportunities and systems. Also, ensuring if there is a change in how data is used, transmitted, or stored privacy requirements are met.
This person will work closely with Product Owners, Legal, & IT Security teams. The Data Privacy Specialist will understand privacy requirements, will help POs & development teams with answering questions about requirements, ensuring understanding, and helping them find design & process solutions to meet privacy requirements, and will also recommend to the Data Privacy Lead, Privacy Manager, and TL1 that privacy requirements are met so they can sign off on privacy design.

Responsibilities
- Work with Product Owners and development teams to provide recommendations and support in developing solutions for apps, telematics products, marketing, and customer interfaces.
- Work with members of the TL1 and Office of Privacy to understand Consumer Privacy Protection Principles, data privacy and security laws and regulations, and industry best practices.
- Work with Legal and applicable business units to maintain and update app/head unit notifications and/or other customer interfaces.
- Act as subject matter expert and resource on privacy, security, and data protection issues.
- Review data protection impact assessments and other internal privacy and data security assessments
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree: Computer Science / Management Information System or equivalent field or work experience.
- 7 years’ work experience - Preference for experience executing privacy risk assessments and performing vendor due diligence.
- Strong fundamentals in data analytics.
- Analyzes and interprets complex digital data and its relationship to other data sets and draws conclusions that can then be shared with technical and non-technical teams to support consumer privacy and data security decisions.
- Must understand complex IT environments well with factual and theoretical knowledge to identify and retrieve information.
- Must have technical aptitude and 5 years of programming experience in Java and C/C /UI design, and hands-on experience with databases such as Oracle/Snowflake/MongoDB.
- Experience working with product teams on implementing privacy by design.
- General understanding of data security tools and systems.
- Good understanding of U.S. and global data protection laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; capable of quickly gaining respect, interacting comfortably with, and successfully collaborating with and influencing others.
- Experience in Automotive and Telematics Data is a plus.
- Experience in Cloud and Big Data is a plus.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification a plus.
