What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at OPAL FOODS COOPERATIVE INC?
The Controller reports to the CFO and directs Opal Foods' accounting operations. Duties will include supervising the accounting staff, producing financial status reports, assisting with the budget process, and being a key player in implementing and maintaining Opal’s ERP system. This position will assist the CFO on special projects or assignments as needed.

Documenting, establishing, and standardizing process memos for internal use by the organization that outlines procedures, expectations, and guidelines for specific processes or tasks.
Lead / support ERP Implementation
Develop and execute a detailed ERP implementation strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
Manage all stages of the ERP lifecycle, including planning, configuration, testing, training, and go-live
Coordinate with external ERP vendors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure seamless system integration
Allocate resources, manage budgets, and handle the prioritization of tasks.
Create and manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, ensuring the project stays on track.
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting and finance controls, guidelines, processes, and policies.
Ensure company financial integrity by reviewing and approving reconciliations, analyzing budgeted performance to actual, cash management, etc.
Provide comprehensive updates to senior leadership by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data.
Produce periodic financial reports; ensuring the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Produce and file required governmental financial reports.
Managing accounting processes and team members to ensure high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
Work with auditors to coordinate information gathering and reporting.
Work in cooperation with the HR Payroll Manager to ensure payroll processes are completed accurately and in compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
Other Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or relevant course of studies. (Extensive experience in a comparable role may be considered in place of a degree.)
5 plus years’ progressive experience in accounting or related fields.
Proven track record of leading and managing successful ERP implementations (experience with systems such as SAP Business One, NetSuite by Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, etc. is highly preferred).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to complete work products with high levels of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to effectively coach accounting staff towards successful outcomes.
Working knowledge and experience in accounting systems and accounting processes.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English.
