JOB DUTIES
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the Beach Market Cafe. Ensure opening/closing duties are completed. Ensure daily/weekly cleaning is completed. Ensure the outlet is properly set-up and ready for guests at all times.
- Manage service delivery in outlets to ensure excellent service from point of entry to departure (e.g., greeting from associates, speed of order taking and food and beverage delivery, fulfillment of special requests, collection of payment & invitation to return). Assist cashiers, baristas, and other staff and act as host on the floor during meal periods and high demand times. Handles guest problems and complaints. Meets with guests on an informal basis during meals or upon departure to obtain feedback on quality of food and beverage, service levels and overall satisfaction (touches tables during service). Be visible and interact with guests and associates to provide consistently high service.
- Aware of all Food and Beverage promotions and events and is able to answer staff and guest questions correctly. Accurately assists guests with reservations for dining, including special requests.
- Schedule staff for outlet according to established staffing levels and needs of the business.
- Monitors occupancy weekly. Checks for high volumes, large parties, special event days.
- Incorporates guest satisfaction as a component of pre-meals with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ensures corrective action is taken to continuously improve service results.
- Ensures recognition is taking place across areas of responsibility.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained on quality and service standards and have the tools needed to effectively carry out their job functions.
- Create and facilitate ongoing and regular training for food and beverage service staff.
- Maintain and enforce procedures to (1) ensure the security and proper storage retail product and equipment, (2) ensure the security of monies, credit and financial transactions, (3) replenish supplies, inventories, uniforms, etc in a timely and efficient manner, and (4) to minimize waste and breakage of all glassware and supplies.
- Establish par levels for supplies and equipment. Ensure that all equipment is in proper operational condition, and that all facilities are cleaned, vacuumed, and properly stocked according to anticipated business volumes.
- Know, maintain and ensure compliance of all local liquor laws and sanitation and safety regulations.
- Know and maintain safety and sanitation standards daily to ensure safe environment for staff and guests.
- Assist Food and Beverage Director with interviewing, training, coaching, counseling, scheduling and evaluating staff. Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with peers and associates and ensures associates do the same within the team.
- Solicits associate feedback, utilizes an "open door" policy and reviews results to identify and address associate problems or concerns. Establishes guidelines so associates understand expectations and parameters. Ensures consistent compliance and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Flexibility in available to work according to business needs, including early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays. Attends weekly staff meetings as required by Food and Beverage Director.
- Ensure the security of guest and associate personal information.
REQUIRED SKILL SET
- Experience in high volume, upscale café/coffee house environment preferred
- Team Player and beverage operations training preferred.
- Hands-on management style. Proven record of stable employment.
- Carrying/lifting items up to 35 lbs.
- Stand 100% of the time up to 10 hours a day.
- Endure limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- High school diploma or equivalent and three years of food and beverage management experience in a full service or similar setting.
- Ability to achieve Alcohol Awareness Certification and Safe Food Handler Certification.
- Knowledge of coffee, tea and smoothie products including adherence to all recipes
- Must be organized and able to handle multiple tasks. Must have excellent communication skills.
- Proven ability to supervise associates.
- Good working knowledge of Excel, Outlook,
- Word, POS systems and Open table.
- Ability to actively train and coach on a daily basis
