What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry Cook position at Opal Sands Resort?

Key Responsibilities:
1. Pastry Production:
o Prepare a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, cookies, and desserts according to hotel standards.
o Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
o Create themed or seasonal desserts based on the hotel's requirements or events.
2. Menu Development:
o Assist in when needed in developing new dessert recipes and concepts.
o Modify recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, vegan) while maintaining quality.
3. Quality Control:
o Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and organization in the pastry kitchen.
o Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and products.
o Ensure all baked goods meet presentation and taste standards.
4. Inventory Management:
o Help maintain inventory of pastry ingredients.
o Assist with ordering ingredients, ensuring proper stock rotation, and minimizing waste.
5. Collaboration:
o Work closely with other kitchen staff, such as chefs and sous chefs, to ensure smooth service.
o Provide assistance in the preparation of banquet and à la carte desserts.
6. Kitchen Safety:
o Follow proper food safety standards, including handling ingredients and cooking equipment safely.
o Adhere to sanitation standards set by the hotel and health regulations.
7. Customer Service:
o Ensure that all pastries and desserts are presented attractively for guests, ensuring a positive dining experience.
o Occasionally, interact with guests during special events or tastings to explain desserts if needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Education: Culinary arts or pastry-specific training, or relevant experience in a high-end hotel kitchen.
· Experience: At least 1-3 years of experience in pastry or baking, preferably in a hotel or restaurant environment.
· Skills:
o Proficiency in baking and pastry techniques.
o Knowledge of various pastry and dessert recipes, including modern trends and traditional techniques.
o Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
o Strong attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for pastry arts.
o Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy trays, and work in a fast-paced environment
