- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Must hold an appropriate Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with proper endorsements
- Must meet the suitability criteria for employment as required by the Alabama
- Child Protection Act of 1999 and ACT No. 2002-457
REPORTS TO: Principal
ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 187 Days (9 Months)
JOB GOAL: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning, employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students including strategies to meet diverse student needs. Candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of Computer Science Technology instruction as well as the ability to have students produce functioning robotics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement an innovative, interactive, engaging, and evolving computer science curriculum with strong focus on computational thinking, programming logic, digital fluency and citizenship.
- Create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that employs effective and differentiated teaching strategies and assessments to support diverse levels of technical ability and skill sets.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to emerging technologies 424453724, curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to computer science and the impact current trends have on Middle School students.
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the Computer Science Technology field by attending seminars, participating in professional organizations, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Ensures that students conduct conform to the school’s standards and school district policies and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records in accordance with District Policies and Procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of current Computer Science Technology education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field of Computer Science Technology.
- Knowledge of data information systems data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to Computer Science Technology.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Willing to attend required appropriate professional development.
- Perform other related duties during school necessary to the safe and effective operation of the school when requested by the principal.
