QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Must hold an appropriate Alabama Professional Educator Certificate
  • Must meet the suitability criteria for employment as required by the Alabama
  • Child Protection Act of 1999 and ACT No. 2002-457

REPORTS TO: Principal

ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 187 (9 Months)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish strong working relationships with leadership at area schools and daycares to coordinate work-based learning experiences for students.
  • Provide aspiring teachers with resources to support their path into the teaching profession.
  • Collaborate with industry professionals to ensure alignment between the Education pathway and regional workforce needs.
  • Coordinate and manage the state-recognized Career Tech Student Organization
  • Appropriately budgets and spends federal, state, and local funds to support CTE programs.
  • Define goals and objectives for unit and daily plans based on knowledge and understanding of curriculum.
  • Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable.
  • Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student’s culture, learning styles, special needs, and socioeconomic background.
  • Develop or select instructional activities which foster active involvement of students in the learning process.
  • Plan and prepare lessons and instructional strategies which support the school improvement plan and the system mission.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and safe learning environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and organized learning environment.
  • Establish and use behavior management techniques which are appropriate and effective.
  • Establish routines and procedures and work with students on consistently following them.
  • Create a learning climate that is challenging, yet non-threatening.
  • Establish appropriate testing environment and ensure test security.
  • Establish and maintain efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Assist in enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Encourage self-assessment by students and assist them in developing plans for improving their performance.
  • Use appropriate material, technology, and resources to help meet learning needs of all students.
  • Provide instruction on safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to parents and students about academic and behavioral performance of students.
