What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Coordinator - Emergency Department South Campus position at Opelousas General Health System?
Assists the Emergency Services Manager with patient care supervision, management activities, and staff development. Under direction, provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process, performs technical nursing functions, and upholds the standard of practice of a professional nurse in caring for infant through geriatric patients. Works in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Certification/License: RN licensed by the State of Louisiana is required. CPR required. PALS and ACLS preferred
Experience: 3 years nursing experience required.

- Assists the Emergency Services Manager in achieving organizational goals.
- Performs management duties as delegated by the Inpatient Services Manager including scheduling, staffing, and patientassignments.
- Directs and guides patient / family teaching as appropriate for the unit.
- Assists Emergency Services Manager in the selection, orientation, skill development, evaluation, and discipline of unit personnel.
- Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
- Directs and guides licensed and non-licensed staff while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
- Documents and maintains data on patient’s record.
- Maintains a safe environment.
- Applies basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education.
- Provides for life support.
- Acts as a patient advocate.
- Demonstrates behavior appropriate for a professional role model.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills.
- Assists the Emergency Services Manager in coordinating quality initiatives and process improvements.
- Assists in providing daily operational resource management including supplies and equipment, as well as rendering clinical expertise for unit staff and physicians for problem-solving on patients, processes, and family issues.
- Directs and guides ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
- Promotes an awareness of patient’s age, growth, cultural, and spiritual differences.

- Broad hospital clinical experience
- Current knowledge of clinical practice.
- Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
- Three years of RN experience in area of specialty is required.
