What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Nephrology position at Opelousas General Health System?
The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for caring for patients, maintaining accurate and current patient records and scheduling and administering follow-up appointments to patients as required. Works as a team with our nurses and physicians and will assist in delivering premium care to each and every patient.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
License/Certification: NP or PA license required. CPR required. ACLS & PALS preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs initial patient screenings and patient history and physical examinations
- Updates patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment
- Analyzes test data and determine the need for follow-up appointments and further treatment options
- Delivers quality care while maintaining all company metrics pertaining to productivity
- Serves as the resource patients need for ongoing care information, counseling and provide guidance for any patients with critical conditions
- Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice
License/Certification: NP or PA license required. CPR required. ACLS & PALS preferred.
Additional Experience Preferred
- 1 year Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
- Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment
- Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for all ages of patients.
- Ability communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it related to patient care.
