What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Center Program Director position at Open Arms Community Center?
Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated leader to join our team. This position requires approximately 1,500 hours per year with a schedule that varies depending on the season. A sample calendar can be provided upon request.
As Program Director, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for program participants. You will be responsible for designing, scheduling, and implementing activities, managing behavior, training and oversight of staff, and ensuring that all programs provide an exceptional experience for everyone involved. The position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with children and have skills in various areas such as leadership, organization, planning, teaching, coaching, STEM, and the arts.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature follower of Jesus who actively pursues growth through spiritual disciplines and has a heart for ministering to children and their families.
- Minimum three years of experience working with school-aged children
- Minimum three years of management or supervisory experience
- Involvement and leadership in Christian ministry is a plus
- Instructional experience in any of the following or similar areas a plus (archery, arts & crafts, computer, cooking, life skills, music, nature exploration, stage productions, physical education, puppeteering, robotics, science).
- Certification in first aid or CPR is a plus.
Duties
- Create and implement quality program experiences that focus on the mission of Open Arms Ministries, “Loving generously, we connect ALL to Jesus.”
- Be an example to and guide staff members and program participants in proper behavior, character, respect for and treatment of others and of property, and following program policies and procedures
- Communicate with parents/guardians of participants, staff, congregation, and community.
- Work as a team with the Administrative Director to hire, train, supervise, and schedule staff; to develop and implement program policies and procedures; to maintain thorough and organized records; to promote programs through advertising, social media, and outreach.
- Additional duties as assigned
