General Duties & Details
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Bus/Van Driver to transport our kids safely to and from field trips. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Jesus, driving and ensuring the well-being of passengers, especially children.
This is a summer Bus/Van Driver position with a minimum of 15 hours each week. Hours will vary depending on the amount of field trips each week.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a bus and van to transport children on designated routes
- Work as a team with staff members and serve as a chaperone on field trips to ensure the safety of all children
- Adhere to traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures
- Assist children with boarding and exiting the vehicle
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle
- Communicate with dispatch as needed
- Ensure the safety of all passengers during transit
Driver Requirements:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or Chauffer's License required
- Clean driving record
- Ability to model Christ-like behavior with children and team members
- Ability to work well with children and provide a safe environment
- Proven experience as a Bus Driver or similar role
- Some involvement in a Christian church or ministry preferred
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle maintenance
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is preferred
Reporting and Collaboration
- Reports directly to the Program Director
- Works as a team with all OACC employees
- All employees of Bethany Lutheran Church dba Open Arms work within the guidelines of the Church By-laws. The Governing Board, as representatives of the congregation, ensures that the organization as a whole operates in compliance with the by-laws.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 15 per week
