Staff Accountant
Open Dealer Exchange (ODE), an affiliate of Reynolds and Reynolds, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its workforce in Southfield, MI. As a Staff Accountant, you will report directly to the Controller and work collaboratively with the entire accounting department. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Department to perform accurate and expedient accounting functions. The ideal candidate for this role is detail-oriented, has solid mathematical skills, can identify errors, and has obtained an education in an accounting-related field. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our CPA firm to ensure accurate and timely submission of sales tax filings.
- Apply problem-solving skills to resolve any issues related to sales tax returns.
- Support the payroll process, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, including posting payroll entries in the accounting system.
- Assist in the monthly closing process to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Help with monthly billing operations, ensuring that our clients receive accurate invoices in a timely manner.
- Process ACH and credit card autopay for customers after billing, providing a seamless payment experience.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed.
Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 years of experience in an accounting or finance related role
- Proven experience preparing and posting journal entries
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience with Lookup functions and the IF function.
- Strong accountability, flexibility, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
