What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Director position at Open Door Baptist Church?
The Learning Center, a preschool ministry of Open Door Baptist Church, is seeking a new director to oversee the daily operation of the weekday preschool program. This is a part-time position that consists of up to 25 hours each week during the school year with some summer hours as necessary to prepare for the upcoming year.
The Learning Center’s Director MUST:
- Be a committed follower of Jesus, have a heart for preschool ministry and the families we serve.
- Have at least 5 years of early childhood experience
- Be compassionate, flexible, creative, high-energy and solutions-oriented.
- Be able to work independently as well as lead in team environments.
- Be able to communicate effectively with staff, families, students and large group settings.
- Possess strong time management skills and organizational abilities.
- Be able to use the computer to create and use documents, charts, designs, etc.
- Be able to use social media and communication apps to market and share with community and families all the amazing things about The Learning Center
- Be comfortable addressing and resolving conflict or issues
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Be able to maintain appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
- Model a consistent daily walk with Jesus and desire to do all things that please God.
- Be a role-model and support for families as well as support, mentor and lead TLC staff spiritually.
- Adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message.
Preschool Director responsibilities include:
- Handling the day-to-day administration and overseeing of The Learning Center’s operations
- Lead staff, students and families spiritually through devotions, Chapel & other ministry opportunities.
* Recruit and manage student enrollment
- Support, lead, mentor and provide for TLC staff and make sure they have all the necessary tools to teach their students including curriculum, training, materials/supplies and provide assistance as needed.
- Recruit and manage student enrollment and maintain student records.
- Make sure students are taught using curriculum, have fun while learning and are accessed throughout the year to determine success.
- Plan and oversee events and communicate with families in multiple ways all the amazing things happening at TLC.
- Solicit from families and staff feedback to make sure we are being the best we can be.
- Market TLC within our community through advertisements, social media, and other platforms to gain new families to our preschool program and lead mission projects to share Jesus with others.
- Keep the TLC board up to date with preschool enrollment, financial awareness, events, and any staff, student or preschool concerns.
- Manage preschool finances and establish/maintain policies and procedures for the preschool.
- Maintain, organize and keep stocked storage areas that belong to TLC as well as let ODBC know of any facility/building issues or needs.
- Maintain a safe, secure and healthy work and learning environment for students and staff.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22.5 per week
