Open Door Health Services is hiring a Nurse Practice Manager for our Urgent Care Facility located in Muncie, Indiana at 1651 E 29th St.
Urgent Care is open 7 days a week Monday through Friday 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. We are only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
As a Practice Manager you will uphold our Mission, Vision, and Values. This position will lead and coordinate daily operations in a variety of patient care activities to ensure all operations within the clinic are functioning appropriately. The individual will assist in the delivery of health care and patient care management in accordance with scope and licensure and will take an active lead in facilitating identified performance improvement activities within the department. Responsible for assisting providers with diagnosing and/or treating disease/injury.

  • Works to ensure the reporting area(s) is operating effectively and efficiently in conjunction with the mission, vision, and value statements.
  • Provides leadership for the development and enforcement of policies and procedures designed to guide activities at a high-quality manner and reports violations to the Practice Manager.
  • Maintains knowledge of and complies with personnel, nursing, medical and clerical policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance guidelines and other State & Federal laws. This also includes reporting to the Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor, or suggestion box any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
  • Triages calls with the patient, to determine the appropriate level of care necessary coordinates with care teams and schedules appointments accordingly.
  • Schedules appointments for new and returning for all health-related providers, excluding Family Planning and WIC, as needed.
  • Develops and monitors reports and analytics relative to effective departmental decision making, quality control, and performance improvement.

  • Observes, records, and reports to physician/nurse practitioner, patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments as indicated.
  • Provides patient education relating to current condition as appropriate.
  • Consults with Chief Medical Officer and/or Director of Clinical Operations regarding unresolved client/patient problems.
  • Responsible for hiring, evaluating and disciplining reporting staff.
  • Responsible for orientation, training and working with staff to ensure they understand job responsibilities, express desired results associated with duties and resources available to achieve results.
  • Ensures the reporting area(s) engage in activities designed to effectively improve the quality of services.
  • Works with Operations Manager and other members of leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate projects designed to enhance patient care and expand services.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and superior customer service with patients, co-workers, and administration.

  • Implements the nursing process and communicates with the physician/nurse practitioner regarding concerns and/or problems regarding the client/patient.
  • Maintains and reviews patient’s records, charts, and other information.
  • Maintains flexibility nursing assignments to include, but not limited to, follow-up, chart audits, and on floor nurse when needed.
  • Develops and maintains ongoing knowledge of nursing policies and procedures and standing orders and implements as appropriate.
  • Responsible for acting as the first line of escalation to actively mitigate, escalate, and resolve customer service and staff complaints.
  • Reports diagnostic results to the identified team member within an identified timeframe.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Responsible for creating the staff schedule and daily assignments and provides back up coverage in instances of staffing gaps to ensure appropriate coverage for operations to run smoothly.
  • Communicates to reporting staff information, reports and materials that will lead to a clear and unanimous objective.
  • Participates in planning, problem solving, continuing education and professional growth.
  • Motivate and train staff to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Works with management of other department leaders in developing, preparing and evaluating, and improving programs and activities of ODHS.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care and common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

  • Skill in initiative, listening, judgment, discretion, and decision-making within the guidelines of the policies, procedures and standing orders of the health Center.
  • Skills in preparing and maintaining records, charting, and writing reports.

  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and superior customer service with patients, co-workers, and administration.
  • Ability to clearly communicate, direct, prioritize, and delegate work in accordance with ODHS policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft products, electronic medical records, and practice management systems.
  • Requires standing, walking or sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending, stretching or lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to work in stressful situations.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range or use of approved adaptive equipment.




Typical Working Environment: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to clinic environment. Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.

Education: Required: High School Diploma, Minimum graduate of an accredited school of licensed practical nursing.

Experience: Experience in organizational leadership and leading a team. Prefer 5 years management or leadership experience in the health care arena.

Certificate/License: Possession of an Indiana State Nurse license. CPR & First Aid Certification, TB certification preferred at hire, required to be maintained through ODHS post hire.
