What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Team Member position at Open Gate Business Development?
Open Gates Group is a family of companies located near Kalona, IA. We care about our employees and take pride in our community. To help our community's farmers, we built a creamery and then 10 other food industry-related businesses. Today, we help source, produce, sell & transport Midwestern products to 3,500 stores nationwide. Our dairy products are minimally processed and come straight from Midwest family farms surrounding our creameries. We are seeking a Warehouse Team Member to join Frytown Distribution, a member of the Open Gates Group family of companies.
The Warehouse Team Member is responsible for performing physical tasks in the materials management function including picking orders, shipping and receiving, inventory control, and delivery of products. Typical shift hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm—occasional weekend work as required.
Responsibilities:
- Pick orders for external and internal customers in a cold storage environment.
- Load and unload trucks and receive materials in a timely manner.
- Assist in the internal transport of products to Open Gates facilities as needed.
- Assist in product pick-up and local deliveries when needed.
- Update inventory control system.
- Participate in physical inventory.
- Maintain accurate records of work procedures as directed.
- Maintain a safe warehouse environment and a clean, sanitary work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Clean driving record.
- 2 years of warehouse and pallet jack/forklift experience desired.
- Able to work in cold temperatures (ie: a cooler) for several hours per day.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively and stand for 8 hours.
- Strong attention to detail and basic math and reasoning skills.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Google Suite.
- Flexible and willing to learn and grow in the role.
- Team-oriented with a focus on working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
