Work Summary:
The Development Director will be an integral part of our team, working closely with the Executive Directors, Board of Directors, and various development consultants and contractors. This role is designed to spearhead fund development efforts, build strong donor relationships, and manage key aspects of our public support initiatives and pending capital campaign.
Executive Directors Partnership:
- Jessie Francis: Pursue grants and other funding opportunities.
- Debbie Harris: Collaborate on event planning and execution.
- Sonia Pitts: Utilize as an interim resource for social media needs.
Board of Directors Partnership:
- Daniel Huffenus: Resource for grants, legal counsel, and future capital campaign advice.
- Melinda McLaughlin: Communications resource, including newsletters and marketing counsel.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Fund Development:
- Create compelling opportunities for donors to support OHAC.
- Develop and execute strategies to secure grants, business support, sponsorships, and community engagement.
- Work with departments to identify and pursue potential funding sources.
- Manage capital campaign stages, starting with a Major Gifts campaign.
- Cultivate and expand the donor list.
2. Team Building:
- Lead and unite a team of board members, donors, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Foster strong relationships to effectively generate funding and other critical resources for the organization.
3. Fiscal Public Support:
- Ensure OHAC meets its Annual Public Support Fiscal Goals ($104,182/year).
- Manage various forms of monetary donations and planned giving options.
- Track and report on donations, grants, and sponsorships.
- Help to oversee the grant process, including tracking, reporting, and compliance.
- Seek and obtain sponsorships for events and programs.
4. Events:
- Create and coordinate fundraising opportunities alongside scheduled art events.
- Manage sponsorship coordination.
- Capture, organize in Bloomerang and mailing lists, and utilize prospect information from community events.
5. Promotional/Marketing:
- Supply promotional materials to staff, Board, and volunteers.
- Create and distribute the Annual Report.
6. Donor Relations:
- Align donors’ philanthropic goals with OHAC programs.
- Record and acknowledge donor interactions.
- Develop monthly donor incentives and manage personalized gift programs.
7. Professional Development:
- Stay updated on industry trends and technology through webinars, publications, and conferences.
8. Budgets:
- Adhere to budgetary constraints and ensure effective use of resources.
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities for fundraising events.
9. Partner Fundraisers:
- Serve as the point person for partner-hosted fundraisers and public relations.
10. Public Relations & Networking:
- Handle public relations, attend networking events, and handle all OHAC tours (excluding prospective client/artist tours)
11. Physical and Email Mailing List:
- Update and maintain mailing lists in collaboration with the Art and Program departments.
12. Additional Duties:
- Work flexible hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Google Suite and various software platforms.
- Exhibit strong writing, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
