Job Summary
The Patient Sitter plays a crucial role in providing support and supervision to patients in various healthcare settings. This position is designed for individuals who are compassionate, attentive, and dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of patients. The Patient Sitter will work closely with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to assist in maintaining a positive environment for recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant observation and supervision of patients to ensure their safety.
• Assist patients with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, and mobility.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding any changes in patient behavior or condition.
• Implement behavior management techniques when necessary to maintain a calm environment.
• Support the development and implementation of care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Document patient interactions and report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
• Engage patients in conversation and activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional support.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures within the healthcare facility.

Skills

• Experience in childcare or working with children is beneficial for understanding developmental needs.
• Knowledge of behavior management strategies to effectively support patients exhibiting challenging behaviors.
• Ability to drive patient engagement through effective communication and social interaction.
• Familiarity with case management principles to assist in coordinating care for patients.
• Understanding of care plans and how they guide patient treatment and recovery processes.
• Background in social work or home care can enhance empathetic patient interactions.
• Experience in hospice care is a plus, providing insight into end-of-life support needs.
• Proficiency in using various systems for documentation and reporting within healthcare settings.
• Collaboration skills with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals are essential for effective teamwork.
