The Purpose:
We are looking for an Estimator to join our team in Denver! As an Exhibit Estimator, you will support the Rental and Custom Services groups by interpreting three-dimensional design/CAD images to develop estimated fabrication cost proposals. You will develop thorough pricing strategies, including fabrication methodology, interfacing between design, new business development, production, account, and project management. You will attend the initial design launch meeting and monitor the design process to advise the design team of budget concerns. And you will also attend production launch meetings to ensure compliance with the estimates methodology is intact.
The Job:
Provide Written Estimates
- Develop well-thought-through production activities to establish cost parameters
- Provide raw material requirements by component
- Establish estimate format and breakdown
- Write concise, detailed descriptions of project components
- Consult with the Director of Rental Services and/or Director of Account Services to determine MSA (master sales agreement) or rate structure
- Develop SWAG estimates for quick reference and cost guidance
- Provide change order estimates as requested
Submittals for Outsourced goods
- Provide clearly defined scope documents for outsource pricing
- Obtain and evaluate bid documents
- Recommendations to the project team for vendor selection
Show Services Estimate
- Review show kit to determine various field service rates
- Work with the account team to determine schedule
- Consult the show destination City Manager to review the project and obtain a labor estimate
- Consult the Director of AV and Technology to obtain AV/lighting estimates when required
- Consult with the Logistics/Freight Manager to obtain freight estimates
Estimate Review
- Review completed estimates with the sales team
- Develop margin expectation
- Review the completed project cost against the original estimate
- Observe the production of estimated projects to monitor estimate compliance
General tasks
- Maintain updated cost awareness of standard fabrication materials
- Explore new materials and fabrication techniques
- Provide cost guidance and alternative fabrication ideas to design
- Maintain log/schedule of current estimate projects
- Maintain electronic file folders
The Person:
- Must be well-versed in exhibit and/or museum fabrication techniques.
- Possess a vast knowledge of manufacturing applications (carpentry, welding, etc).
- Creative thinking to provide pricing options to satisfy challenging budget restrictions.
- Clearly and concisely write the project scope.
- Able to manage multiple projects consecutively.
- Successfully work both independently and with team members.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant industry applications.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Travel is not required but may occasionally be requested.
Colorado Salary and Benefit Statement:
The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. Any salary offered is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience.
Colorado Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000.
This position is eligible for health care benefits, life insurance, time off benefits, and participation in the Company's 401(k) plan.
