On-Call - Registered Nurse Supervisor
Position Overview: The On-Call Nurse/Nurse Supervisor is available during agency on-call hours to provide and direct nursing care and implement the medical plan of treatment that is prescribed by a licensed physician. The scope of the nursing practice will include assessing, diagnosing, and treating the human response to actual or potential physical or emotional health problems (ANA Nursing Practice). This practice will be implemented through preventative, supportive, and restorative care. This care is delivered within the guidelines of the ANA Standards of Care, and the policies of Open Systems Healthcare, along with state, federal, and local laws/regulations.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Responsibilities:
- Maintains standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures established by the Agency.
- Competently assess and document the client's biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
- Interprets to the client and family the implications of the client’s health status.
- Consistently reports appropriate changes in the client’s condition to the DON and the physician.
- Administers and documents the client’s prescribed medication competently.
- Demonstrates competence in performing all treatments per Physician’s Plan of Care.
- Demonstrates the ability to function effectively under stressful situations.
- Performs 60 day re-assessments and post-fall assessments, as needed.
- Maintains confidentiality of client assessments and records.
- Coordinates scheduling of client’s multidisciplinary appointments and therapies.
- Consistently submits timecards and patient records completed in an appropriate timely manner.
- Consistently maintains an adequate level of supplies and equipment in working order in conjunction with suppliers and family.
- Demonstrates competencies to provide care to patients of all ages.
- Respects the rights, privacy, and property of others at all times.
- Assumes responsibility to participate in quality improvement activities as directed.
- Consistently plans and implements supportive and restorative care.
- Consistently coordinates community and social services to meet the needs of the client and caregiver/family.
- Performs other duties as assigned by OSH. Follows Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to home care services.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Current and valid RN license in the state of NJ and/or a current and valid RN reciprocating state compact license.
- Evidence of Tuberculosis screening that meets CDC guidelines.
- Evidence of passed Home Care Exam.
- Availability via telephone and to provide home visits, if necessary, during Agency On-Call Hours.
- Professional Liability Insurance with 1-3 million dollars in coverage, if applicable.
- A valid driver’s license.
- A valid auto insurance policy with liability coverage.
- Current and valid CPR certification.
- Current State mandates CEUs.
Experience:
- One year of professional experience as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in home care nursing preferred.

- Able to effectively communicate with clients and co-workers in English.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and effectively deal with stress.
- Ability to handle confidential information in compliance with HIPPA.
