Open Systems Pittsburgh is a Western PA based company that has exclusive offerings in the K-12, Higher Education and Corporate markets.
We are currently seeking an experienced technician who can help us with a cross platform of systems.
An understanding of Analog Communications Systems with the ability to upgrade these systems to a Hybrid or full IP. This will include Rauland Intercom Systems, Access Control, and Video Surveillance. Responsibilities
- Be willing to perform all aspects of an installation, Including mounting and understanding 66 blocks, Installing components in racks, dressing out cable and terminations, testing existing speaker circuits with an ohm meter, and being able to trace speakers circuits.
- Familiar with Ethernet/IP Networks
- Ability to install manufacturer software on Servers running Microsoft Server and SQL
- Problem solving and troubleshooting of any issue that may arise during an installation.
- Professional interaction with clients, general contractors, electrical contractors, etc.
- Prioritize responsibilities for most efficient use of time.
Proficiencies Required
- Experience installing Tier One School Paging and Intercom Systems in schools (Rauland, Telecor, Bogen)
- Experience with Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion systems in commercial environments.
- Pride in workmanship, including cable management, labeling, testing, and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills. Present a positive impression of the company.
- Experience in the general construction industry - including building codes, reading riser diagrams and specifications, fastening systems, roughing in, and processes.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds without aid, move equipment, crouch, and kneel, work on lifts/ladders.
- Candidate must have a current driver’s license with no infractions.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and several background tests to work in education facilities.
- A true passion and appreciation for the commercial communications and security industry
- Highly motivated to succeed, self-starter, team player, very organized and able to multi-task.
Education Desired
- Associates Degree in Electronics or equal experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Manufacturers Certifications are a plus

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
