Job Description

The Team

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our OpenServices team as we continue to work on the next generation of online sports betting platforms.  

The OpenServices team is made up of a group of Software Engineers and related disciplines; we are dedicated to specific customers with a focus on custom/bespoke feature development, platform upgrades, roadmap acceleration, integration, site reliability and quality assurance.

As a Software Engineer with OpenBet, you’ll help improve the functionality and performance of our systems, and we’ll give you extensive training, support and mentoring as you take our solutions and your career to the next level.

We are looking for a number of Software Engineers (Graduates) to be based in our offices in Chiswick, West London (hybrid working)

The Player

What you’ll be doing

As a Software Engineer with OpenBet, you’ll have a varied and broad role including the following:

 

  • Work as part of an Agile team to develop new features and functionality for large scale sports betting systems 
  • Produce robust, clear, polished code using practices like Test-Driven Development (TDD) 
  • Extract and capture customer requirements using processes such as Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
  • Develop solutions that are modular, scalable, and portable 
  • Work to improve overall system architecture and performance, design components to meet those goals 

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in a traditional science subject, ideally computer science, engineering, or other STEM subjects
  • Demonstrable talent coding in at least one major language (such as Java, C/C , Python, PHP etc.) 
  • Talent in writing and using algorithms and assessing time complexity and performance 
  • Understanding of databases and database schema design
  • Adaptable, with a customer centric can-do approach, willing to embrace flexible working hours to meet deadlines during release cycles and when customers require ad hoc support.

The Process

2. Video Interview with Recruiter

If selected for next steps, you’ll be contacted by a member of the Recruiting team to schedule a 30-minute video interview.

3. Assessment Days

If selected to move forward you will be asked to attend an assessment day either week commencing 12th June or 19th June. The assessment day will involve a series of tasks from technical challenges, team building activities, problem solving and interview.

4. Offer or Decline

If selected for the position, a member of the Talent Acquisition Team will call you to give you the good news! If you have not been selected, a member of the team will still reach out to let you know.

5. Onboarding

If you have been offered a role with OpenBet you will start on the 11th September 2023 and be initiated into a 5 week training programme. Once that’s completed you will join your team and will have an experienced buddy and line manager to guide you through your career at OpenBet.
