Position Summary
The Engineering Associate Apprenticeship is a skills-first position within Cisco, geared towards building a career in Software Engineering. As an apprentice, you will spend four days per week in on-the-job training and one day per week completing OpenClassrooms’ online Apprenticeship training path - all while earning an income! At the completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate for Completion of Registered Apprenticeship Program.
This competency-based apprenticeship training program is 12 months in duration.

What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and new products
- Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure, and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools
- Determine hardware and software compatibility points that affect both hardware and software design and operations.
- Available positions in the areas of Applications Development, Embedded Networking and OS Development, IT, Security, and Test & Quality

The ideal candidate will have excellent troubleshooting and debugging abilities and experience in fields related to Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Networking, or Software Development. Minimum Qualifications:
- Able to work on-site at Cisco’s Atlanta, GA Office
- At least 18 years of age
- U.S. citizen or have the right to work in the U.S.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent or an associate degree
- Available to commit to a 12-month apprenticeship contract
- Including but not limited to an upcoming graduate of a technical degree or certification program from a Technical Boot Camp, Apprenticeship, Community College
- Knowledge of or some experience in C, C , Python, or Java
- Working knowledge of Linux/Operating Systems Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA, CCIE, CCNP or Intermediate-level understanding of Computer Networking
- Additional programming languages of JavaScript
- Knowledge of Cloud Platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
- Hands-on QA, Testing, and/or Debugging Skills
- Experience working on or developing applications for embedded devices
