Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Day Programs is responsible for the oversight of the daily operations of Opengate’s Site-Based Day Habilitation, Day Habilitation Without Walls, Community Habilitation and Vocational programs. The Assistant Director of Day Programs will work closely with the Director of Day Programs and COO to develop and implement strategies that support the organization’s mission and goals.

Essential Job Functions
- The Assistant Director of Day Programs is responsible for the administrative management of agency day programs and services, staff supervision as well as the supervision of program participants.
- In conjunction with the Director of Day Programs, provides program direction and ensures the provision of a high level of meaningful activities to the people attending Opengate’s day services programs.
- Assists the Director of Day Services in the development, implementation and monitoring of program systems and growth, including coordination with OPWDD and other state agencies.
- Responsible for program oversight, which includes observing program activity and service delivery.
- Ensures compliance with established budgets
- Ensures consistent preparation for audits.
- Participates in the hiring, development, evaluation and disciplinary process for all employees in assigned programs.
- Maintains oversight of employee orientation to assigned programs.
- Monitors and approves timecards for supervisees.
- Oversees participant’s goal planning, files and recordkeeping.
- Oversees the routine review and submission of program billing.
- Responsible for ensuring policy and procedures pertaining to day programs are reviewed/revised as needed.
- Acts as Day Habilitation and Community Habilitation liaison with regulatory, and other providers, etc.
- Participates in Administrator-On-Call rotation.
- Provides encouragement, coaching, supervision, leadership development and training for staff assigned.
- Serves as a member of agency committees as needed.
- Solicits program referrals to advance program growth.
- Designs and implements innovative habilitation programs.
- Oversees required annual, quarterly, monthly and daily reports and data relating to the program.
- Ensure daily census, program billings and data collections are completed on time and are accurate.
- Provides crisis intervention and supervision when necessary.
- Comply with federal, state and local governmental regulatory guidelines pertaining to a safe, healthy, and clean work environment, reporting health and safety concerns to the Director of Day Programs or Chief Operating Officer.
- Interacts with OPWDD and other state agencies, as well as with other voluntary provider agencies to coordinate/attend conferences, training, committee meetings, workgroups, internal surveys and audits.
- Provide role modeling, coaching and leadership development and mentoring to the Site-Based Day Habilitation, Day Habilitation Without Walls and Community Habilitation teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Must establish positive relationships with staff, parents and representatives of other agencies to ensure that the agency’s goals and objectives are being carried out.
- Utilizes initiative and assumes full responsibility for the execution of special projects.
- Must stay current regarding knowledge of new State initiatives and changing regulations.
- Helps promote for each person receiving supports the establishment and maintenance of a Natural Support Network of family, relatives, friends, and/or volunteers
- Represent the organization at internal and external events and meetings, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Responsible for ensuring operational continuity, including providing acting coverage for absences and vacancies.
- A bachelor's degree in the field of Human Services
- 5 years’ experience working with a I/DD population, including five years of supervisory experience (preferably in the I/DD field).
- Must have a valid tri-state driver’s license.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
- Ability to manage a fleet of vehicles and establish routes.
- Must have strong knowledge of the habilitation needs of people with ID/DD.
- Must be knowledgeable in OPWDD and other federal, state, county and local government regulations that pertain to services for people with Developmental Disabilities.
- Proven history of successful program development and management
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and leading high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and people skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Passion for the mission and work of the organization
- Enthusiastic interest in mentoring others and working as a team.
- The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- This position will require the employee to stoop, kneel and crouch. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, viewing on a computer terminal.

Salary : $76,000 - $85,000
