Job Summary
The Sr. Director, Physical Security & Risk Programs is a pivotal role that shapes and executes the strategic direction of OpenText's physical security program and associated risk management initiatives.
What the Role Offers
- Develop and implement a company-wide strategy to optimize OpenText's physical security approach, in alignment with global operations, risk exposures, and regulations.
- Align security strategy with stakeholder needs across business units, promoting a proactive security culture and providing thought leadership.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing security team, fostering collaboration and innovation while ensuring skill development and succession planning.
- Provide senior oversight for OpenText's Global Security Operations Center (GSOC), ensuring continuous monitoring, rapid response, and incident management.
- Optimize GSOC technology and processes for real-time intelligence and emergency response.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of OpenText's physical security systems strategy and technology roadmap to drive standardization across the enterprise and ensure alignment with the company's evolving needs.
- Drive innovation by integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance physical security capabilities, streamline operations, and improve threat detection and response times.
- Lead the execution of security system upgrades, migrations, and deployments in new facility projects, providing senior-level oversight through the planning, design, and implementation phases.
- Establish a risk management program for facilities security, working with stakeholders to implement mitigation plans and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of physical security policies, standards and procedures to ensure consistent application of security practices across the enterprise.
- Establish and oversee an audit program to regularly review security protocols, systems, and incident reports to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program success and report data-driven insights to senior leadership to support decision-making.
- Lead company-wide security awareness training programs, working with business partners to ensure alignment with broader risk management efforts and that regulatory requirements are met.
- Provide senior accountability for Global Security's management of relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure cost-effective services and compliance with corporate standards.
- Lead capital and operational budget planning for security projects, working with Finance and Operations teams to allocate and manage capital resources effectively for security initiatives.
- Manage operational budget, including forecasting, staffing, and third-party expenses.
What You Need to Succeed
- Extensive knowledge in security industry areas including physical security programs, security systems, GSOC operations, governance, risk management, facility security design, and emergency response.
- Proven ability to set and execute strategic goals while managing tactical operations and driving change initiatives.
- Strong business acumen, collaborating cross-functionally to implement security programs while adapting to company culture and offering fresh perspectives.
- Critical thinker with leadership experience and excellent relationship management skills to address global security challenges.
- Ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization (including briefing executive management) on security initiatives, projects, decisions, and information.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and leading successful teams.
- Comprehensive understanding of and experience delivering physical and technical security design projects across all stages within the built environment in the Americas and/or globally.
- Strong knowledge of governance, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to physical security, as well as current national and international standards and installation practices.
- Proven ability to manage CapEx planning and budgeting for security programs, including expense planning for resources, security tools, services, and third-party vendors.
- Flexibility in work schedule/ability to respond to after-hour or extended events globally.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in a leadership and people management role.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in a private sector corporate security organization or a related public sector organization (focused on physical and personnel security) with progressive responsibilities. Private sector corporate security experience is highly preferred, particularly in a global company and/or the technology industry.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- One or more professional certifications in an area of study relevant to this position is preferred, such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or similar.
