What are the responsibilities and job description for the Artistic Administrator position at Opera Neo?
The Role: Opera Neo is seeking an Assistant Artistic Administrator to join the team for our 2025 season.
This is a paid internship position. The right candidate will be interested in and familiar with Opera Neo’s mission, and ready to work collaboratively and creatively in a supportive and collegial environment.
The ideal candidate has experience in arts administration, as well as excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and time management skills. The right candidate will also be self-motivated, able to anticipate issues and work collaboratively to address them, and have a strategic mind.
Responsibilities include:
– Assist in season-planning activities, in collaboration with the Artistic Director, Executive Director, and Director of Artistic Administration. (Can be remote between May 19 and June 20).
– In collaboration with the Executive Director, attend to daily operations throughout the Opera Neo festival season.
– Undertake marketing activities, including email blasts, social media, and local press.
– Assist with coordinating artist activities, including daily schedules and addressing any issues that arise.
– Act as a liaison with administrative, technical, and production staff at performance venues. Maintain a positive relationship with these partner venues, and assist with coordinating load-in, rehearsal scheduling, additional necessary time in venues, and load-out.
– Liaise with Opera Neo technical and production personnel.
– Attend design and production meetings, technical rehearsals, and performances. Act as a liaison between administration, production, and music staff.
– Assist with creating programs for each performance.
– Assist with load-ins and load-outs at performance venues.
– Assist with ticketing management and engage with patron questions regarding ticketing and event attendance. Create and send out emails to patrons with event details and reminders leading up to event dates.
– Assist with front-of-house responsibilities at performances.
– Interact with donors and audience members, and assist with fundraising activities as needed.
– Assist the Director of Artistic Administration with public relations activities, including setting up and facilitating interviews with local press, community outreach, and audience development.
– In collaboration with the Opera Neo team, work to further the mission of the company, and cultivate a positive and collegial working environment for staff and artists.
Dates:
April 15 - July 31, 2025 (In residency; some remote duties to begin before April 15.)
Start date is flexible. (Can be remote May 19 - June 20).
Hours and Compensation:
The hours are typically 25 hours per week with additional evening hours during performance dates.
Dependent on experience/precise responsibilities, but will start at $500/week.
