What are the responsibilities and job description for the Area Program Manager position at Operation ABLE?
REPORTS TO: Regional Director at the Manchester regional office.
OPERATION ABLE SCSEP PROGRAM The Area Program Manager drives SCSEP services in several NH counties.Operation ABLE is a nonprofit that provides opportunity to adults who are 55 or older. The Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) sets up unique partnerships between disadvantaged older jobseekers and local nonprofits or government agencies. Participants gain current experience and enhance job skills while providing 20 hours/week of service in these interesting workplaces. They receive a training stipend equal to the NH minimum wage, and also continue their job search. Funded primarily by Department of Labor grants.
RESPONSIBILITIES You will have overall responsibility to guide program participants from intake and enrollment, thinking through employment goals, settling them in a community service site and working with them for job placement. In your territory, you will do outreach to community nonprofits, government agencies, employers and potential program candidates; you will offer support, be responsible for case management duties, network with businesses, and learn & provide vocational counseling and job development services.
QUALIFICATIONS: 3 years or more work experience in project management and supervision. Desired experience: familiarity with the state’s workforce development system and employment services; experience as a case manager, employment specialist, job developer or human resources generalist.
EDUCATION: 3-5 years of relevant experience or a 4 year college degree.
REQUIREMENTS: Strong digital skills: email, microsoft word & excel, zoom/teams virtual meetings. Demonstrated ability to build ongoing working relationships with diverse constituents, team members and business partners; a professional & collaborative manner, and have or quickly acquire competence in the following areas: interviewing and assessment, career counseling & development, case management, job search/ employment process, and job placement. Understanding of and sensitivity to mature (55yr ) job seekers who may have multiple employment barriers. Frequent travel to local counties and access to own transportation, or other approved means to meet this requirement.

SALARY RANGE: $43,000 - $49,000
